Celebrate Our Nation’s Birthday
Hoards of Republicans and Republicans-to-be gathered in Edina on July 4th to celebrate the nation’s birthday with a grand parade and BBQ. Days of preparation by many volunteers from SD41 and the St. Thomas College Republicans preceded the event, preparing food, decorating floats, and labeling 7000 strings of beads handed out at the parade.
Many of the Republican candidates for office locally and statewide joined the largest unit in the parade, including Mark Kennedy, candidate for the U.S. Senate, Rich Stanek, running for Hennepin County Sheriff, Jim Ramstad, incumbent 3rd Congressional District Congressman, and our own Senator Geoff Michel, and Reps. Neil Peterson and Ron Erhardt.
Following the parade, nearly 400 people topped off the celebration with a BBQ at the Edina Community Center. Veterans from all past wars were invited to share the largess.
