Two Speakers for the April 24 Full Committee Meeting

Dennis Schulstad will receive the Crystal Eagle at the April Full Committee Meeting. This is the highest award given by Senate District 41. It is presented annually to one volunteer who has made a significant contribution to the senate district and the Republican cause. Denny will talk about the Employers Support for the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) where he serves as Minnesota Chair and his experiences with today’s military. He has taken the lead in support for our military members and their families. The full story of his winning the Crystal Eagle is in this newsletter.

Jim Heavens, mayor of Dyersville, Iowa (home of “The Field of Dreams) will speak about “The 12 Things I Learned as Mayor.” He is the father of Al Heavens, the Chairman of the University of St. Thomas College Republicans. Heavens was first elected Mayor in 2003 and was re-elected in 2005.

He is Manager of AgriBlenders for United Suppliers Inc. His hometown was Coal City, IL and he received his bachelor’s degree and his master’s degree in agricultural science and his PhD in agriculture all from the University of Illinois. He is a cattle nutritionist by training. The Heavens family lived in Mankato and Charles City before moving to Dyersville. He serves on the Dyersville Area Chamber of Commerce Board. He is married to Cathy and they have three sons.

Full Committee Dinner Meetings are held at Calvary Lutheran Church at 6817 Antrim Road in Edina. The evening social hour and dinner begins at 6:00 p.m. with an $8 donation for adults and $4 for students. The Full Committee Meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. The event is open to the public.
